Is it legal for T-Mobile to force you into a new contract every time you make ANY change on your phone bill?
I had heart surgery in 2005. I only had 2 months left on my contract, but illness caused unplanned financial problems. I tried to be responsible and so I called and removed my daughter from my plan so I could afford my monthly bill. They told me it would automatically renew my contract for 1 yr. I didn't want another contract. He said that was the only way to remove her. I told him I wouldn't honor a forced contract, and I needed her off my plan.
Two months later I let them shut my phone off. I had fulfilled my original contract and I feel like I did the right thing. They reported a $779 non-payment on my credit report for not fulfilling the new contract.
My daughter is fighting with them right now about the same issue. How can they cut the cost of the bill and not be forced into a new contract that they don't want? They are trying to stick with a budget and gas prices are causing them to make some changes. But, FORCED contracts are still there...
Is this legal? Is it possible for a BUNCH of us to get together and fight this and win? Once you take their service they DO NOT work with you and they know they have you either way it goes. This should not be legal! Help!
