On 7/26/08 Beth contacted me by phone to "explain the business opportunity". She said she has been in the business 4 years full time and is making a lot of money. She said it is a health/nutrition business called Herbal Life. I am familiar with the products and she said they have been around 28 years; are in 65 countries; and on the N.Y. Stock Exchange @$40 per share. They are advertising with the L.A. Galaxy team and sponsor David Beckham. The products are not available in stores. It is a Phone, Mail, and Internet business.
7/30/08 Beth called and explained the "Compensation Plan". I clearly saw this is a pyramid/multi level plan (especially when she said to "really get productive quickly" I could pay $3500 to get started. She would be sending me email about what we had talked about within 30 minutes. If I did not receive the email, I should call her. I immediately went to Google and searched for herbalife and discovered all of this is a skam as I suspected.
I then called my VISA Customer Service and discovered she had hit my card as follows: 6/30 @ $35; 7/15 @ $9.95; 7/29 @ $35.95 ("food store kit")
7/30 $39.95! = $519.85!!! Thankfully, my card was cancelled immediately and these charges are now being disputed by the Fraud Department.
7/31/08 Beth called. I cut her short & told her I am not going to do this business as she had told me I did not have to sell or warehouse products. She said "I guess we are done then". I asked her about sending back the products & she said "no refund policy"; but Herbalife has 30-day money back guarantee on the products if they are returned". Use would be pro-rated. After consulting my attorney, I found I am "one of the fortunate ones" as many people have invested large sums of money and have been very damaged financially as well as emotionally.
