Just a helpful warning to all future movers in the Austin/San Antonio area. Our family had a terrible experience moving with A&B Movers. The price seemed almost too good to be true, it was, you get what you pay for. I had an in home estimate done, they walked through the entire house, looked in ALL cabinets, closets, outside, garage. I stood in my living room and told the man that I was affraid that moving day, all my stuff wouldn't fit on the truck and I would be left with a sofa on the front lawn. He said, "I am very good at what I do, that won't happen." I felt really bad, like I had insulted him, he was the professional after all.
Well moving day came, and guess what, it didn't all fit. We were moving out of town so just coming back over to pick up a second load was not an option. The actually men moving our stuff were very nice and did all they could to get as much on as possible. I called the home office thinking, oh well, they will take care of this, don't panic, no worries. I was told that I would have to pay for an entier new truck to come get the rest of the stuff and move it. I said, no, you gave me a quote to move my entier house, come move it for that price I was giving in writing. They again said no, didn't apologize for screwing up on the quote in the first place, didn't offer to help, nothing.
But it gets even better, I actually had a garage sale the week before we moved, AFTER the quote was done. I sold 700.00$ worth of stuff, a 26 cuft frig, 8 dinning room chairs, lawn furniture, kids toys, clothes, dishes, loads of stuff that was all INCLUDED in the quote. So really, they had moved even less stuff than I was quoted for. They told me that the quote they gave me was for only 50 boxes and they had counted 150 that day of the move.
It is not my fault they screwed up on estimating how many boxes it would take to move us, they SAW all the stuff we had, if they can't count how many boxes that would be then they shouldn't be giving people quotes. I don't care how many boxes it takes, its the STUFF that you are moving, so move it!!! After all that, nothing, no apology, just left us to spend the rest of the weekend making trips on our own with our little suv back and forth between cities to get it all out before we closed on our house.
I later called to talk to the owner, he has never called me back. The fact that theyscrewed up, I don't care, it happens. The fact that they didn't make it right or try to be helpful, that is horrible business. Oh and we also have broken from the move a dinning room table, lamp, two chairs, 13 plates, 2 vases, 1 large framed mirro, 1 large stainless steel garbabe can. Please don't use these movers.
