Best Time Movers - 123movers - Metro Van Lines - Personal Touch Movers
Best time movers - 123movers - metro van lines personal touch movers this is a common movers scam! Quoted: $474.00 charged: $2,530.00

My wife called around to get a quote on moving. She stumbled onto Metro Van Lines. We gave them a description of EVERYTHING that we had and Metro Van Lines quoted us $474. We over told them we had 5000 lbs. Even though according to our last move (made by the military less then a year before) it was around 4600 lbs.

Now a little background; In April I got out of Army. The Army paid to move me to Herndon, Virginia.in December I got orders to reactivate to deploy to Afghanistan. My wife and I boxed up our stuff and moved it all into a storage shed. It was when I returned from Afghanistan that I had be relocated due to my civilian job. So we needed Metro Van Lines, to move our stuff out of the storage unit.

YES!!! A storage unit!!! Metro Van Lines only had to move BOXES and a few pieces of furniture from a SMALL storage unit!!! Here's the kicker. They unloaded it into a 2-car garage. So essentially they moved boxes and some pieces of furniture from one storage unit into a bigger storage shed 2 hours away.

I noticed that they were using extravagant amounts of wrapping paper and tape on things like bed frame rails and old chairs; things that they did not need to wrap. I watched them wrap a chair twice with bubble wrap paper and then wrap a second chair. Stacked one upside down on top of the other and then stick both chairs in a box.

When it was all said and done. I was charged $2530.00.

So to sum it up: I told them to quote to move me and my stuff that weighed 5000 lbs. They assumed that they were moving a household, packing up each individual room. They assumed they were unloading boxes from into each individual room. That got me a quote $474.

What the actually did. Move around 4600 lbs (less work then when quoted). The moved a storage unit that was already packed up (less work then when quoted). The unloaded the contents into a two-care garage (less work then when quoted). That got me a final charge of $2530.00

I am disputing the charges with my bank.
