In January I purchased a great dane puppy from Mimi Kim of Saravilla Great Danes.
The puppy had temperament issues from the time I brought him home. Whenever I emailed or called the breeder about the issues, I was told "neuter him", "physically control him", or other such "sound" advice. When the issue came to a head in April the breeder told me if the dog was returned to her he would be euthanized. I choose to seek additional training for the dog, which apparently displeased the breeder and now (June) has her demanding his return—which is not allowed for in our contract.
In December at one year old, the pup was diagnosed with Elbow Dysplasia (a hereditary condition covered in the breeders contract.) All of my attempts to enforce the terms of the contract, short of actually suing, have been met with refusal or attempts to change the terms of our executed contract at the breeders whim, as well as written and verbal harassment in an attempt to discredit and defame my character and ability to care for the dog.
My dog is now being tested for other genetic problems that have come to light in researching his pedigree.
I would strongly recommend anyone considering buying a puppy from Saravilla Great Danes / Mimi Kim, to look elsewhere.
