I got a collect call from my brother that said "James - In hosptial" so I accepted the call. We talked for 12 minutes. One month later I got a bill for $55.39 for this ONE call.
When I called NCIC they very nicely blamed me for accepting the call (which of course I did), asked me if I had chosen "option 3" to see how much the charge per minute would be (I did not). They would not even discussed or understand that there is a problem with one call costing $55.39. So I politely told them that I would put this on consumer complaints and then I hung up the phone.
This one call is more than my monthly phone bill. They charged $5.14 for the Univ. Serv. Charge fee— on my regular $48 phone bill the US charge is only. 75.
