My daughter called me collect from a Salvation Army church camp. She tried 1-800-Collect, and was told that our number did not accept calls from that. UNTRUE.
She tried again, and when I received the phone call, there was no name even stated, as she was not given the option. Knowing that I had a child away at camp, I accepted, for a 3 minute phone call. She also called 3 days later for 3 minutes, and I just got the bill last week. Zero Plus Dialing charged $15.81 per call basic charge for a total of $31.62, and then for each:
*$2.50 NCIC Non-Subscriber Fee for a total of $5.00
*$2.78 Carrier Cost Recover Fee for a total of $5.36
* $1.88 Universal Service Fund for a total of $3.76
This totaled $47.32 for 6 minutes of phone calls. I believe they deliberately take advantage of situations where children may need to call collect to RIP OFF parents. This is highway robbery and I am HOPPING mad about it, and I will go as far as I need to to get companies like this to quit stealing from people.
