I had my child support case handled by the State of Florida and while I was living in Duval County RARELY were they able to collect so in 2004 I signed up with Support Kids after seeing their company advertised on TV. They were only able to get 2 checks for me. I moved to Hillsborough County (Tampa, Florida) in Dec. 2006 and in May my child support case was transferred from Duval County to Hillsborough County. As soon as Hillsborough County became in charge of my case they contacted my ex and told him he had a certain amount of days to start paying or he was going to jail. (my ex literally owes me many thousands in back child support - we are talking around 20K for my ONE son). So being that finally child support told him he was going to jail he not only started paying but also provided an insurance card for my son (my ex was supposed to be providing insurance since the beginning and never did - my son is now 15 years old)... So I have been getting child support regularly since October (hoorah for Hillsborough County!!!).
I have spoken to Support Kids couple of times since the beginning of 2008 and told them I no longer need their services because Hillsborough County finally came through for my son.
Well at the beginning of May I was expecting a child support check (like I had been getting regularly for 6 months) and I did not get it. So I called State of Florida Child Support to find out what was going on and Support Kids had sent them some document (THAT I DID NOT SIGN) and now they have my child support checks fowarded to them!!! My ex's tax return is garnished (because he is SO in arears) AND SUPPORT KIDS GOT IT!!! Which is illegal!!! When I call Support Kids to discuss this matter (IF they EVER ANSWER THEIR PHONES! - well I take that back-THEY do answer their new application line BUT RARELY ANSWER THEIR ESTABLISHED CLIENT LINE) they tell me they do not know when they will send my checks!!! I left a message for a supervisor (someone named JoAnn), and she does not return her phone calls. I have emailed supportkids many times and all I get is an automatic response! I went to Hillsborough County Child Support Enforcement for the State of Florida and they are aware of reports and complaints regarding support kids and told me to contact the Florida State Attourneys office (which I plan to do tomorrow). I also checked out the BBB, AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST SUPPORT KIDS!!!
Please do not sign up with them!!! I do not know how long it will take to get this fixed. (or if it ever will) they are going to sit back collecting my son's child support AND THEY DID NOT EVEN DO THE WORK (HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY DID) TO EVEN GET THEIR 10%... And now i guess they will keep collecting my checks. Please, please do not do business with this company, YOU WILL SO REGRET IT. I do not know how they sleep at night - stealing children's child support. The fastest growing population of homeless are single mother's with children!!! Do not do business with them!!
