After completing a very detailed inventory of my possessions and getting a quote for the move, I hired Blue Whale Moving Company.
Five days before my scheduled move I received a document from BW with a price 30% more than what they quoted me. I phoned them and John McArthy said that they made a mistake and would honor the quoted price. On the day of the move the price was higher than the quoted amount in spite of the fact that much less was moved than was on the inventory. Your items are held hostage so you have no choice but to pay the inflated price.
The Blue Whale paperwork stated that they insured my very expensive furniture for $200,000.00. That was a lie.
The two Blue Whale movers (I was told at the time of booking the move they were going to send their "best three movers") damaged a lot of my furniture. Pam Currie from Blue Whale and I reached an agreement as to the repair of my furniture. After some of the items were repaired John McArthy of Blue Whale stated that they were denying the rest of my claim.
I have tape recorded conversations of the discussion begining with the overcharge for the move, Pam and I reaching an agreement as to the repair of the damaged items through John refusing to repair the remaining items. I also have a letter from the repair person that Pam sent to my home to assess the damages.
Blue Whale used to have a good reputation in Austin. I have learned that that is no longer the case. There are many, many victims of Blue Whale currently that are in the same position that I am.
Blue Whale needs to be held accountable. Do not use this company.
