My father is 77 years old and legally blind. My father's wife passed away on March 14 from as of yet undetermined causes. The cause of death has still not been determined by the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office. The tests being conducted can take up to 12 weeks to be completed. Once completed, the death certificate will be amended with the cause of death.
Prior to her death she rented a living room set and bedroom set from Rent A Center located in Monroe at a cost of approximately $450.00 per month. She had insurance on the furniture through the Benefits Plus coverage that Rent A Center sells to its customers. The furniture should have been paid for in full upon her death.
Because the death certificate does not list a cause of death as of yet, Rent A Center has stated that they will pick up my father's furniture on Friday April 25, which will probably have already happened by the time you read this. Rent A Center has repeatedly made harassing calls to bully us into producing an amended death certificate, which we are of course incapable of doing until the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office completes its tests.
We were given a telephone number of 800-422-8186 for Rent A Center by the manager in Monroe. However, they refused to help us in any way.
