I live in Alaska and subscribed to Direct TV in October. I did not subscribe to HD TV - but because I am an Alaska resident was required to rent the HD equipment. I understand that Alaska has special satelite needs in order to recieve the product.
I noticed on my last bill that Direct TV charged me for the HD subscription even though I am unable to receive the channels. I went back and reviewed my statements and see that they charged me all along. When I contacted customer service I was told that they could only remove the charges for this month (February) since that is when I noticed the error and that it was MY responsibility to notify them of their error sooner - so therefore I would have to pay for the incorrect billing.
I then sent an email to their customer service and received an email from "Josephine" and she pretty much said that because I have the equipment I must pay for the service even though I do not receive the channels.
I want to know if any other Alaskans has experience this practice. I do not believe that consumers should pay for a service they do not recieve.
