I will begin the following blurb by stating first and foremost that I can say with great confidence that I would never, under normal circumstances, stoop so terribly low as to verbally bash a corporation online but I am to the very end of my rope.
My husband and I purchased a lovely table and chair set and a 4 peice living room set 2 years ago. We unfortunately, with the intention of protecting ourselves, purchased a 5 year warranty from Ultra Shield on all of the furniture.
Our disaster began to unfold approximately 2 months ago. We contacted Ultra Shield due to a seperated seam on our sofa and multiple scratches on our table, chairs, and bench. Several days later we received a letter stating that these items would not be covered on the basis that there were multiple damages and they were manufacturers defects. The company is completely uneducated as to what is stated as covered under their service plan. Should that not be the initial training before obtaining employment at a company? Know their standards and in this case what product they are selling! Our warranty states seperation of seams is a covered damage as well as sratches to wood finish due to normal household use. It took a true act of magic to finally make clear what their warranty covered. The young lady who was helping us originally then left her position and we were passed on to Ms. Pleasurable. Please note the sarcasm. We again received the run around and at this point had been several weeks into the whole expedition. Needless to say, we are over two months into this process and are still amidst an endless battle and have now tossed to the fourth person.
The service was to say the least appalling, I was spoken to as if I were a criminal, a thief to be more precise. They made it very clear that I was an obvious nuissance. The most disturbing chapter in this book is how these employees explained their warranty. Their explanation was basically if we were terribly negligent, then these items would be covered. Our scratches on our wood furniture were due to normal household use... Moving dishes across the table, silverware, some scratches due to our dog. These things were not covered. But it would be had we set a hot cup of coffee on the wood and left a ring mark, had a water mark from a sweating, cold cup, or any other negligent behavior. When I explained that some of the scratches were from our dog Ms. Pleasurable passed a remark that they do not cover animal damage. Yet she did also state that if the dog were to catapult itself onto the sofa and urinate, that would be covered! We are not negligent and do not allow our animals or any household members to urinate on the furniture, so we are to be punished?
I could rattle on for hours but to shorten a long story, this warranty is nothing but an absolute joke. Do not purchase this unless you would like nothing but a throbbing headache. The service was not even service, be prepared to be treated as a thief. Spare yourself of this excitement and swallow the damages yourself. I will NEVER again purchase a warranty with this company and will make it a goal to inform anyone and everyone I know of this ridiculous excuse for a warranty. Thank you for your time.
