We went to Jackson Hewitt last year and we wanted to know what would be in our best interest for that year. We wanted to file married but seperate. The tax preparer didn't explain to us that we couldn't do that because we live at the same address.instead he went ahead and did our taxes that way. He put us both down on our individual tax forms head of the same household and each claiming a child.
We found the mistake later that day and we went back to him to ammend it. He charged us $60.00 for His mistake and he put us both as married filing jointly. Now we got the IRS after us for the extra money that they gave us when we filed the first time. Now all this stress could of been avoided if he would of just explained all of this before he went ahead and did our taxes. We really think that it's Jackson Hewitt's fault and they should pay the money not us. We didnt prepare our own taxes. They did. WE are not going back and we are gonna tell all our friends not to use Jackson Hewitt.
