Ripoff return policy within 72hrs, but store closed, incomplete delivery

I purchased living room set and dining room set from furniture company. It was paid for on 9/13/02, but the company had to restock the merchandise. It was finally delivered 9/30/02.

On 9/30/02, my brother accepted the delivery of the furniture, but the dinette set was not delivered. At that time, I decided to return everything. The store has a 72hour return policy for store credit. The store was closed on 10/1/02 and 10/2/02, (the days I was available to return merchandise. They refused to take merchandise because of the miscommunication with the store hours.

As of today, I have no knowledge of the dinette set and when it will be delivered.
