In September I purchased a beautiful 1.5 princess style diamond ring. I had the ring appraised and the appraisal determined that it was a fair price.
I made 3 payments through my bank over the internet which the firm received.in December payment was not received (firm alleged) so my bank sent another check. The payment was 5 days late. Approximately 5 people called over a three day period asking when I would make payment.
I notified my bank that the payment had not been received. The bank responded that they would investigate the matter. The firm charged $27.00 late charge charge assessment. Their statement feflects payment received on Jan 2. On Jan they placed a "billed finance charges" of #100.14. The total payment is $132.52.
With all the charges that left $5.38 to pay on the account. All of my bills are paid through my bank who issues a paper check for those firms not accepting payments over the internet. Everyone else paid received their payment.
Since this happened, I have read numerous instances of charges against Friedmans Jewelers of unfair payment practices. I am so sorry I got involved with this company and wonder where I go next in attempting to make payments through the contract period.
They have indicated that I will be penalized if payment is ahead of schedule. I will consult an attorney, but I want everyone to know to run past their store and not enter into it to purchase anything unless they will pay cash for it.
