For anyone who posted before me that AMEX Movers was a no show, and all you lost was your $100 deposit, you are lucky. They literally moved my belongings across the country and when they doubled the price on me and we refused to pay, they took it to a storage facility and are holding it hostage. They are threatening me to either pay the doubled price or it goes to auction.
If anyone has any advice for me please email me (ROR removed for security purposes) We have called the Sheriff and prosecutor but no luck because the movers crossed state lines and the state does not have jurisdiction.
My story is similar to the others posted here who had their stuff moved - for a one bedroom apartment it took them 10 hours to move WITH ME HELPING THEM! They came up with insane additional charges that were never in any of the contracts. Things that were supposed to be free like boxes, labor, storage, etc. Were charged $500 apiece for which is why the price doubled. I still don't know what condition my stuff is in since I have yet to receive it (it was moved in October, it is now January).
They contacted me initially under the name Peak Movers, which is why I agreed to take them as my movers, they didn't have any negative reports on them. When they showed is up when I saw they were under the name AMEX Movers.
If anyone has been contacted by these people please run the other way. Don't let yourself get into this situation.
