It's Chistmas Eve morning and we were getting ready for Santa so my wife went out for some last minute shopping. I knew (thought) we had X dollars in our bank account. I checked the balance a little later and learned that we had zero dollars! I saw where $45.90 in two withdrawls had been taken out that day 12/24/07 by TWX magazine. No bill, no heads up, nothing! I called TWX and through the non-human phone tree got the charges reveresed. But not before making a mad dash to the bank and making a deposit. If I hadn't checked the balance we could have incurred ISF charges of $99. Add that to TWX's "great deal" and its NOT a great deal.
I later spoke with a human at TWX and was told that one year ago I was informed that the subscriptions (Readers Digest and Car and Driver) would renew and that I should have remembered that and planned for the deduction. I asked the lady if she remembers everything she did or committed to one year ago. Silence. Finally she said yes, "I would remember that I had to pay a bill." She's in the wrong line of work, she should be a CPA who would never forget an accounts payable.
I will never subscribe to either magazine so long as they are associated with this outfit.
