Sleepy's Mattress
Warranty scam!

When I began to have problems with my Sterns and Foster king size mattress, deep body indentations and severe pain, I called Sleepy's to come out and inspect mattress. The inspector came out, as scheduled, and reported that the mattress had impressions over 1and a half inches, which is the standard. He also stated that the boxspring was "bowing" and warped and that was probably why the mattress failed in the first place.

I never heard from Sleepy's after three weeks so I called them. They said that my mattress would be covered under the warranty but NOT the boxspring. I said that couldn't be right and told them what the inspector found. I also asked if I just got a new mattress and put it on the old boxspring wouldn't that void my warranty for the new mattress? She said yes, but obviously would have never have told me that on her own. I know that would eventually happen due to the fact that the boxspring was warped. It was probably refurbished in the first place because I don't know how I could have done that myself. I said I wanted someone to come out again to check the boxspring again.

Two weeks later an inspector came to check the boxspring and sure enough found the same thing as the other inspector. He also said it was "the worst one he has ever seen"! I did receive an email 6 days later telling me that the boxspring would be covered under the warranty, but get this, not the mattress! He hadn't even inspected the mattress that time. I couldn't believe it. Was this some sort of sick game these people play. Meanwhile I am sleeping on this torturous bed night after night. Pinched nerves, etc.

I called, once again, and spoke with Sleepy's. After putting me on hold and talking to their resolution department, I was told that was a mistake and both pieces would be covered. Great, right, not so fast.

I went into Sleepy's to see what bed I would get to replace this one. It had been 4 years and they do not make that bed anymore. I picked out a Simmons Beautyrest World Class with a sticker price of $2599. This is what price these people want me to pay. I told the salesman I have bought many mattresses and they always come down off of that price. He wanted me out of the store so said he would call me later after speaking to Sleepy's exchange dept. They have to handle all of these matters. When he called back he offered me $2099. Plus you have to pay shipping again, so my total would be over $800 out of pocket. My credit was a little over $1300.

My neighbor called 1800 Sleepy's for me and found out that was their advertised price last week. She got them down to $1500 with shipping included! I have to pay $2099 and $79 shipping. Why is it that anyone off the street is entitled to a negotiated price and I am not. Should I be victimized again because I got a defective mattress in the first place. They are sticking it to me twice! I called 1800 Mattress and their version of the same bed would be $1299. That is how these absurd warranties work? It is impossible to get a comprable bed when you wheel and deal the first time and then can't negotiate the second time when you have a credit to use. The only way I will be able to do this exchange without any out of pocket expenses it to get one of their inferior quality mattresses that is nothing like the one I originally purchased.

This is just another one of their scams.

Sleepy's, I want my money back! I will be sending this to the appropriate parties as well.

They admit this is a defective set, I just want to be made whole!!
