We need to do something about this company!
My husband and I have moved a lot, I know that it can be difficult for a company full of Egg heads to follow. I thought it was simple, transfer account right? Wrong! Here is the story:
We start service in 10/06 with xcel again after 2 years of not having to use them. Our bill was 1121.51 upon start up. I knew that we had a past due balance, but 1100.00? Whatever, I couldn't prove is so we made payment arangments to get it paid off. A few months after we started them, my husband called them to move the date of our payments so that they were not on the 3rd of the month. We were having problems making the payments when our rent was due on the first. No problem, they moved them to the 15th for us. Next thing we know they are sending a disconnect. Aparently the highly trained employee my husband talked to didn't know we couldn't make the arangment for over 5 days of what the original arangements were billed at. So we ended up paying 400.00 right away and we made payments to get the balance down to 245.00. We bought a house and transferred the account. Our first bill was a staggering 796.69! They went ahead and found another account of ours that had another past due balance of 549.? We just paid them 1100.00 now they want 549. More and on top of our regular bill, and the big catcher... NOW!!! Since we "broke" our arangements we couldn't be put on them again.
Here is where it gets weird.
They are billing us from 2002. Who has bills from 5 years ago? They have 5 Accounts for us. One of them belongs to a friend of ours that lived with us for a while, one is for an address that we didn't even live at and the other 3 that are ours were always transfered from one address to another. I have paid them over 1600.00 this year in past bills.
We have four children and one income, and it is christmas time. I admit i was going to try to get around it in anyway I could, so i asked my dad to put service in his name. They said they would have to have the deed to the house faxed to them, so I did that. Then they said that in order to move service out of our name they would have to come into the home to see that it was vacant before they could change service. I tried to tell them we had four children in the house, but they said it would be disconnected, doesn't matter about the kids. So we paid the bill.
I have never been treated so crappy in my life. They accused my husband of having an apartment with a mistress, and that "maybe i should look into what my husband has been doing!" WHAT??? They have no right to slander my husband. And they have no right to bill us for our friends bill, and/or his past bills. On top of all this my husband has an xcel bill on his credit report for 600.00 under another account number. So i called to ask them which address this was from. The rep tells me that this account number doesn't belong to us and never has, and throws in, "they pay their bill" talking down to me. So then what the hell is it doing on my husbands credit report? I was told that, "I really should have that taken off." What??? Are all you people crazy? I didn't put the damn thing on. I guess we can chalk that up to the wonderful highly trained egg-heads that work at that horrible excuse for a company. Man if "we the people" did our jobs like that, we would be unemployed.
I am going to contact the PUC, and if that doesn't work out, My Dad having the money to do so, will retain an attorney. I am tired of being pushed down by these companies. We have no money to fight this, and we cannot go without heat because of our children. I think they pick people like us because we cannot do anything about it. If anyone knows how I can get back some of the money we paid them please let me know. Thank you so much for listening.
