NCIC Operator Service
NCIC Operator Service 4 calls, 1-2 minute each, local phone from airport, was charged around $40

Used a payphone on SFO Airport to track my friend. Made 4 calls, each averaging 2 minutes. I was charged around $10 per call, totaling $40.

When I called the NCIC, they said they charge around $7 to initiate the call, and then around $1 per minute thereafter.

It's unreasonable to charge that high an amount with a Credit Card when the same Pay Phone from Airport works with Quarter Coins. For somone without a coin it's natural to swipe the Credit Card in the slot.

There is no information on the possible range of Charges on the Phone when using Credit Card.

Issue is not that they charge a high amount, issue is that it's charged on only the Credit Card, and without Notice, or an Announcement before a Call is made.

I would have decided to go for only one call if I had known what the amount would be.
