Where to start. Mrs Sherry Renfro-Privett seemed pretty nice when I called the first time about a little Shih-Tzu puppy. She answered all of my questions. Basicly what she did was tell me what I wanted to hear. So I made an appointment (BEWARE when a breeder says you have to make an appointment they are hiding something! I learned this the hard way). I went to her home and I was a little concerned when I heard all of the dogs barking sounded like it was A LOT of dogs. She lead me through a fenced in area where 2 very poor looking Dobermans were living with no shelter. Then she lend me into what she reffered to as the "puppy house". This was a HUGE building with cages upon cages stacked on one another full of puppies, Mommy dogs and some pregenant dogs.
She lead me to this one cage with a Mommy she called Buttercup in it, and around 4 puppies in there. She reached in and handed me this tiny little puppy. So sweet and inocent. I have not mentioned that "Buttercup" pooped in her pen and the poop was just laying there with puppies crawling through it. This little darling was the most beautiful puppy I had ever seen, dark brown in color. She called him a chocolate.
I was in Love with this little man but I had to really think about this. I told her I would let her know in the next day or so. So I went home and really thought about it. Oh how awful I felt for this baby. I felt like I had to rescue him and give him a wonderful life full of love that I was sure he would never recieve with her. I called her the next morning and let her know I wanted to come the fallowing Saturday to pick up my new baby, she agreed.
I went Saturday morning to get my baby boy. When I pulled up Sherry and her son came out to greet me and take me to get my puppy from the "puppy house". We were standing there infront of Buttercup and her babies, Sherry and I were talking. She left her son outside with the Dobermans. He came in the puppy house screaming and cussing... Yes I said cussing, the kid is like 4 maybe even 5 years old at the most. I could not believe what I was hearing. She asked her son what was wrong and the child was calling the dogs all kinds of ugly names that a child of that age should not know. He said the dogs knocked him down. I am putting it lightly, those where not the words the child used. She scolded him for letting the dogs knock him down, He was supposed to knock the dogs on their a*es, if they tried to jump on him. She never mentioned the dirty mouth. Not at all! She was more mad he had not abused her Dogs, then anything else. I was appalled. She had my money so I excused myself and got in my car.
When I got home I noticed that my puppy was not acting right. I picked up the phone... Remember I had not had my little Huggy (yes I named him Huggy) but about 3-4 hours. I could not get her. So I called my sister who is a vet, and she said it was pretty normal for a puppy to act this way right after moving to a new home. So I relaxed a little, and I put Huggy down in my house to let him get used to things. I set him down in the living room and walked into my kitchen to get Huggy some food and water. I was sure he was thirsty, after the long car ride. I went back into the living room to get Huggy, so I could show him where he was to eat and drink. I could not find him.
After a long search I found him under my couch. He was not looking so well. I called my sister again, after moving him I found there was diahareah under the couch. She could understand I was very worried, so she told me to meet her at the office. She did a fecal and found my puppy had Giardia. She gave me some meds and I brought the baby home. I tried once again to contact Sherry. Still no answer. I left a message and called her on her cell and left a message there.
I got up the next morning and Huggy was much worse. I rushed him into my sister. The minute I walked in the door she looked at me in horror. She said I smell Parvo. She did a parvo test and it was possitive. I left Huggy there to have iv fluids. We lost my Huggy.
When I finaly got ahold of Sherry she told me it was my problem and I should deal with it.
I am sorry. I am sick thinking about this. I will finish my story later.
