Charges fee to reconnect service after I discontinued service

All I can say about Alltel is that they are a bunch of dishonest thieves.in September, my service was interrupted due to the fact that my payment was late. (the carrier I had prior to Alltel's buyout always had my payment date on the 15th of each month... Alltel switched the due date to the 3rd of each month). I spoke to a CS rep and told them I wanted my service discontinued, they reassured me that it would be disconnected at the end of my contract (Oct 14), with NO FURTHER CHARGES. Since Sept. 21 I have not had service with these tapeworms. I paid whatever balance was due, basically cutting my losses. Today, I recieved a bill from Alltel for 37.28... A reconnect fee. I spoke with "Melissa" regarding this charge, that I had no desire to reconnect. I was informed that to DISCONTINUE my service with Alltel, I had to pay a fee of 37.28 to reconnect to discontinue my service. I have never heard of anything so outrageous... To have to pay to reconnect to stop service. I told her that this was a big ripoff, and was again informed that "this was Alltel's policy". Has anyone else dealt with this type of "policy" with any other wireless service? This is the most ridiculous company I have ever dealt with. For those thinking about going with Alltel for wireless service, consider another company. You'll get ripped off from these bacteria.
