I decided to go with another carrier and put in a transfer request for my ALLTEL wireless phone number on March 23 (thru the new carrier). I called ALLTEL a total of three times between March 23 and March 31 to find out when the transfer was going to take place. It finally occurred on April 1st.
Then ALLTEL sends me a bill for my full monthly bill for April! And says that since they didn't fully process the transfer until April 1st, I owe the full month of April 1-30! Even though the service was disconnected during the entire month and my contract was fulfilled long before the cancellation notice!
I have reason to believe this is an effort on ALLTEL's part to scam customers who are leaving their service for another full month's service. If this has happened to you, we should all get together and consider a class action against ALLTEL.
