Time Share Ripoff

I too have been taken by Global Timeshares marketing scheme. I was contacted by phone by one of their agents telling me that they had a buyer for my time share property. I said I was definitely interested in selling and repeatedly asked if they had a serious buyer. The agent, Jim Anderson kept telling me he had a serious buyer who also had property at the same resort and wanted an additional property. I said yes let's proceed, he said all I needed to do was pay $1350.00 and he would sell the property. I asked why I would have to pay when I had already contracted with them to sell my property. He asked me why I didn't mention that before and said "I can't deal with you" and promptly hung up the phone.

Now this upset me and I called back to find out why, if he had a serious buyer, that he could not deal with me. He told me that he could not deal with me because another agent had signed me up and he would not get credit for the sale. I asked him how much the buyer was willing to pay and he told me $18,000.00, I said to him that if he could re-negotiate with the buyer and get $19,500.00 so that I could recover some of the money that I already paid them and what I was about to pay, that I would sign up with him for the sale. He said he would try and call me back. I then received a call back from him and he said the buyer really wanted the property and would pay $19,600.00 for the property, $100.00 more than I was asking.

I kept asking if he was sure the buyer was serious and he kept emphasizing that he was and if I paid with a charge card I could always cancel the contract. I agreed and he told me someone would call and verify and get my credit card info - He then emphasized that if I was asked if I was told there was a buyer I should answer NO because if I answered yes neither one of us would get anything. I agreed and then was called and contract was made.

I called Mr Anderson back a day later and he told me that everything was going well and the property was in "title search" and that would be about a week. I waited another five or six days and called back to check status and he then told me that he had "a few people interested in the property" I asked about the "buyer" he assured me he had and he stuttered and promptly hung up on me again. I called customer service and only got an answering machine and no return call. I then called my credit card company to cancel and they conferenced a call to Globaltimeshares and we were both told that this is a binding non cancellable contract - but it could have been cancelled within 7 days, of course I was led on about the sale for more than that time.

I'm still trying to cancel the charges on my credit card and faxed a letter of cancellation to Global customer service and have still not gotten a response.
Hopefully if anyone who reads this has any inclination of selling a timeshare - Please do not deal with Global Timeshares or Vacation Property Network - they are both the same company.
