International Buyer? Don't Think So!

Today out of the blue, I received a call from a sales person from Quick Sale Propertys. She told me that they had an international buyer for my Westgate timeshare, which I had listed with another rip-off company - Timeshares by Owner. She wanted to know if a sales price of $18,700 sounded like a sales price I would be interested in. Of course, I said yes. She said an agent from their "closing department" would be calling me right back to go over all the details.in a matter of minutes, an agent by the name of Ciara Maison contacted me. She assured me that she had an international buyer and that their purchase funds were already in escrow. She stated that the closing would be quick and that I should receive my check of $18,700 in about three weeks. All that she needed was for me to sign the contract and send a certified check for "closing costs" of $1880. She informed me that the actual purchase price would reflect $20,500 so that I would get my $1880 back after closing. I asked her again if it was a done deal; that there was an actual buyer with their funds waiting in an escrow account; and that I would be out no money... She affirmed that all was correct.

I received a fax a few minutes later showing my property and the sales price, but no buyer name. I struggled to read the fine print at the bottom of the page, which then informed me that "I understand and acknowledge the following: Quick Sale Propertys is an advertising company. The property owner pays a one-time non-recurring advertising fee. Our advertising program pools the advertising sources of our customers to get the exposure needed to sell and/or rent your property. (it goes on to say) Our company forwards all inquiries and offers on your property directly to you and allows you to negotiate the sale or rental of your property." It strikes me odd that they would need a closing department if they do not handle the negotiation or sale of my property. Also, why would they need $1880 for closing costs when they do not do the closing?

I checked the Boston, MA BBB and found that their were 17 listed complaints with no responses. The Better Business Bureau gave them an "F" rating. Beware of these people, they are dirty players. If I hadn't spent twenty or thirty minutes doing research, they might have gotten me too! Oh, and by the way, the websites for Landmark Timeshares and Quicksalepropertys.com are exactly the same exept for the name... Same design, same description for services, everything!
