ILD Teleservices, Voicemail Professinals, Cost To Coast added false charges to my phone bill

I noticed charges for a voicemail box on my phone bill and also taxes being charged for a service I did not authorize. I called my Phone Co. Verizon and they said they would take the charges off of my bill and that I had to call ILD and cancel my service with them. I asked her how can I cancel a service I did not open.

I called the 1800 number listed on my bill it went to a company who answerd ILD Teleservices I gave them my phone number and I told her that I did not order any voice mail box through there company and she said she would credit back the $25.90 to my account. I asked what the name was on my supposed account with them and she said "Nemo Swanson" now that rang a bell.

In the past month I had been recieving a lot of phone calls for a Nemo Swanson and I kept telling them they had the wrong phone number. (let that be a warning if you keep getting a call for a person that you do not know). So I asked what was the address listed and she said she couldnt give that to me. They can bill my account for charges that I supposedly authorised but they cant tell me the supposed account holder the information on an account that I am being billed for. That is insane.

I looked the name of the company up on the internet and I found usacomplaints.com with the same 800 number listed and there are a lot of these scams reported. Who are these mystery internet companies and where are they located at. I mean we are being billed for taxes along with these bogas charges where is the money going. What is being done to protect the consumer?

I have tryied calling utility companies in the past that were listed in my husbands name only and they would not even talk to me his wife, it was like a brick wall was up so I ask how come that brick wall comes down so easy for these mystery charges without any confrimation what so ever from the person who is listed on the phone account.

I then called this company ILD back to get some more information if I could. The second time I called a guy answered and he was very rude, he would give out no information at all and informed me that there was no credit on my account and that his records did not indicate that I had called in earlier that day.

In fact he said that they could not issue a credit to me because they were not the billing company they were just a routing company becase they could post 3rd party billing to phone accounts and the Billing company could not. HUH? So he gave me a seperate number to call that was suppose to be this ILD Teleservices and I called and the person said that they were Cost to Cost.

I asked if this was ILD and he said yes I gave him my phone number and told him about my earlier conversation and he said that the account was closed and that I had a credit for $25.90 listed just like the girl said that I talked to earlier and he gave me a confirmation number (why did the other guy lie?) I asked this guy could it happen again. He said yes, I asked him what could I do to stop it and he said nothing to just make sure that I check my phone bill.

I am outraged at a system that could allow this to happen with all of the reports that I have seen listed why isnt something being done to inforce a process that makes these online thiefs verify that they are indeed the person that is listed on the phone accounts that they are billing there charges too.
