I work at a popular bookstore chain and prior to the release of the last Harry Potter book all employees were asked to dress up for the occasion. Ashamedly, being a grown woman in my mid-20's, I admit I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. So I decided to go all out and dress up in the cute Hogwart's school uniform. I went to one of the Harry Potter fansites "Mugglenet" and found "WhimsicAlley" which provides the uniforms and accessories.
I was absolutely excited looking at all the different uniforms and styles, so I decided to make a purchase. I made two separate purchases totaling $279.24, thats including premium shipping for both orders with the impression that premium takes two days for delivery. (I say impression because on their site they state that though "premium shipping" constitutes 2 days, the delivery times are not guaranteed.) I was promptly charged on my credit card so I figured my package should be on its way.
After a week of waiting and the deadline for the book release neared, I fired off an email to their sales department inquiring about my orders. I also began calling their store phone number, provided by the website, several times a day but no one answered either phone nor email.
Several days later I sent another email to every email link provided on their site, including a supposed managers email, asking for a cancellation and full refund. Again, no response. Even to my continued phone calls.
Alas, the book was released and I had still not received my uniform. Luckily, I'm rather resourceful and created my own uniform which looked genuine. As of today, it has been over a month since my purchase. I have contested the charges on my credit card and have filed a complaint with the BBB. I'm hoping it doesn't take too long to get my refund, but that remains to be seen.
I've heard that the physical shop itself is amazing and I'm sure if I was in Santa Monica myself I wouldn't be able to stop myself from going in, but I'd advise anyone who was thinking of buying anything from their online store to seriously reconsider. Since my problems started I've read countless reviews online about their horrid customer service and how few have received their orders or gotten in contact with customer services without literally going to the store itself.
