One day, my daughter was at a festival with many open booths. One of them was for acting. They told her to sign a sheet, complete with phone number and address, if she was possibly interested in acting or modeling. About a week later, we got a phone call asking her to come to a conference meeting.
The owner of the Santa Clarita JRP convinced a room full of people that their children would become instant stars by taking classes and getting head shots. That day, I enrolled her into commercial, modeling, acting, and voice classes. It cost alot of money, but little did I know it was all a scam. Having the classes in Santa Clarita made me a bit suspicious. Usually, acting classes are held in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles etc.
After about two years of paying thousands and going to classes, nothing was happening. Friends warned us that it was a scam, but we just didn't listen. My daughter is know well past John Robert Powers, and will never forget the way they ripped us off.
Any successful agency is aware of JRP being a scam. They know nothing about "the business", and in the end, your money is put to waste. Never listen to John Robert Powers, even if they do tell you your going to become a successful entertainer. DO NOT GO TO ANY JRPS! Look for other places. They do not care about you or your career.
