Continues Ripping Off Customers

Pls find the actual email I sent to Mr. Judd (owner/manager) of Chimney Solutions on 13 May following numerous attempts to resolve the problem on the phone with Ms. Tammy Posejpal, Office Manager.

Dear Mr. Judd:
I am writing to you in hopes of resolving what I feel was a blatant effort by your service personnel to take advantage of my wife's lack of knowledge to sell products/services that were significantly overpriced.

We used your service last year and were pleased with it. When a sales rep called for follow-up service we agreed and a date and time were set. Not once, but twice, reps from Chimney Solutions called to confirm appointments to service our fireplace and chimney, and twice they never showed and never called with an apology. Finally, several months later a rep called apologizing profusely and asked for a third appointment with a discounted service price to clean the chimney. Employees from Chimney Solutions did show up on 23 Jan and cleaned the fireplace and chimney.

At the same time they caulked some cracks in the fireplace and replaced two chimney caps bcz my wife was told that the caps were old and ineffective. We were charged $147.00 and $142.00 to install these two sheet metal aluminun/steel wire enclosures. Upon looking at the two old caps and the two new ones I do not see any significant difference. I feel she was lead to believe that we needed something that was not required then overcharged for these two products.

A month later I get a call from Tammy Posejpal your Office Manager wanting to know if we had paid for the service ($450.75) bcz she had no record of payment (which we had paid the day we received service on 1/23/07).in late March, Tammy sends me a letter stating she still has no record of payment as of 3/26/07and stating we have an outstanding balance. I call Tammy and provided her the requested information bcz apparently your new computer billing system was having problems. I expressed my frustration regarding the service and charges to Tammy who stated that she would investigate the situation and asked me to call her back the following week. She said she would be able to resolve it and provide me at least a $100 refund for our inconvenience. I placed at least 3 calls to Tammy over the next 3 weeks and left messages, none of which were ever returned.

Last week I went up onto the roof to check these new caps that cost so much money and became very upset upon seeing what and how they were made. One of them is loose on the chimney and wobbles. The other still has the wire strands left on the chimney from the old cap. More importantly, the crown on one chimney that is cracked and I had caulked two years ago has cracks in the caulk and this was not re-caulked.

Finally, at least four times I had a rep from Chimney Solutions call asking about the quality of service. I repeatedly told the gentleman that he had called earlier and I explained that Tammy had promised to resolve my situation so he did not want to complete the questionnaire.

Mr. Judd, needless to say, I am very frustrated and upset about this situation. As stated earlier, I felt your service personnel took advantage of my wife's lack of knowledge and overcharged her for your services. We only asked for a cleaning of our chimney which we were told would only be $39.95 due to the poor service we had received in keeping appointments.instead, my wife ended up paying over $450 for overpriced products and services I don't think we needed.

I hope we can resolve this situation amicably as Tammy had promised she would do back in March/April. I look forward to hearing from you.

To this email, I did receive a response from Tammy who said she would investigate and get back to me ASAP. She nor Mr. Judd have never responded despite 2 additional email inquiries on 5 June and 8 June about the situation.

I recently filed complaints with the Chicago BBB and Angie's List in an effort to resolve the situation. Neither entity was able to get a response from Mr. Judd nor Ms. Posejpal.
