I received a sweepstakes check from Bristro International Sweepstakes and Lotteries, saying that I had won a sweepstakes that I had automatically been entered into from Publishers Clearing House, or WalMart or something like that.
I was supposed to deposit the check, and when it cleared, I was to call them back.
The check cleared, and I called them back. I was to send them money to New York to cover insurance, and then they would mail me my winnings.
Lo and behold, the check came back about 10 days later, as being a counterfeit check, and the funds were taken back out of my account.
I went online and made sure that the bank was a legit bank, and it was... So that doesn't even have any bearing on whether or not you are being scammed.
