I am a private contractor & trench underground for numerous reasons. I was billed $270 for a line that I cut into with my trencher. True I did but the phone company is so lazy that they just throw 100's & 100's feet of telephone line down on the ground so that when sod is laid out for the new home it is covered & forgotten about. I can take you to 5 new houses right now that has enough phone line covered up by sod that could easily do 20 - 30 house. They have a code to meet of 13 inches deep & if it's a good roll of sod they are only at 2 inches. Someday soon it will all come back to get them.
