Major ripoff. Disconnected service with no authority to do so

I just wanted to warn fellow Texans about Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. I was billed for $84.00 by Southwestern Bell. I had no prior history of late payments. My bill was due on the 26th of March. I called their automated phone line on March 24 and requested that the bill be paid on April 8. I then recieved another paper bill from them that said that my bill was due on the 14. My service was shut off on the 11th. I tried to contact them to get my service restored, only to be unable to reach anyone except the automated service, which demanded I go to a payment agent and pay my "outstanding" balance of $84.00. It said that my service would be restored within two to four hours of my doing that. I made the payment at 10:00 A.M. That Saturday morning, which was the 12th. My phone service was not restored until Monday around noon. I was charged a reconnect fee of $30.00 for this privilege. I have since changed my service to AT&T where I do not have to put up with this highway robbery. I would suggest to everyone else to do the same. LOOK OUT FOR SOUTHWESTERN BELL.
