Together Dating Services - Together, Let Us Introduce You
Defaulted on contract to find 6 matches within one year and within 4 weeks for each new match as per contract

I am reporting the Together Dating Services (Let Us Introduce You), who hold franchises in Los Angeles (Encino), Orange County (Irvine), and San Diego County (San Diego).

At the Irvine office even if you hondle or bargain, the lowest you can leave the place is $3,500.00. Although while on a date a fellow Orange Countian confessed to me within the last year only 1,500.00.

When I told the enrollment counselor, Laura (Irvine office), about my first date paying less, she of course pleaded ignorance.incidentally, Laura, who after she consummates the deal for you wants nothing to do with you afterwards, and has foisted you off to the "matchmaker" in Encino (why Encino when I came to your office to be matchmade and after hearing her boast how many successful matches she made —where are all the dates if she forwards all the enrollees off to Encino —think about that one for awhile —division of labor I guess). More on Laura later as she is too fragile to take customer complaints. Today, she said she didn't want to hear "negative energy". I later replied that we are not in Esalen, this is a benefit, and Together must live up to their contract.

In reading most of the complaints, the average and common plan is 6 dates within a year, or what Together leads one to believe. Together promises to replenish any dates that don't work out, which seeing that they are not too discriminative in matching people up with their desired tastes "what is it corporate says "they try to match your preferences not your requirements" —easy loophole isn't it.

In my case, I am a doctoral candidate in educational policy at a prestigious private university, as well as prior to entering a doctoral program owned for 20 years women's retail business and footwear wholesaler who sold to the major department stores. Of course, my standards are high and perhaps elitist. They set me up with my first date who they said taught college. It turns out he taught high school and on his free days he taught a technical 2 year college, and was a gambler. Then after complaining that my idea was not a gambler or a person who attended a master and doctorate degree mill they set me up with a second date that had the same ambitions to apply to the same institution. Of course these are the same people (referring to Together) that they check out these people, but when confronted they said they cannot be responsible that these dates are not who they claim they are. Very convenient isn't it, $3,500 dollars later.

One pitiful matchmaker said "well he told me he taught "college", I didn't know what level of college.

The second date was very petulant who bored me the whole night and spoke about how he met his future wife in a Tijuana bar, and that she scammed large sums of money after an automobile ran her over, and how she hot rods around town without any car insurance "but despite everything they had a good marriage". Meanwhile, he was in a miserable mood on the date, along with being rude to the coffee server at Starbucks, because he had just began the process of a custody battle in court.

In short, Together has failed to come up with 6 dates within 3 weeks of the year that I signed up with them; forget about their "replacement introductions" when one of their setups does not pan out. You never get to 6 dates to even ask for a replenishment.

I have asked for a partial refund, but no one in authority, even after I complained to the director, can offer me one. I reread their contract, and even though I paid in full, there is no mention when this membership ends although the first clause mentions that one is liable for the entire membership fee until there is an expiration date. I could not find any expiration date on my contract as well as if a year is up they will charge your credit card. I would hate to get to the point where I would have to put a freeze on my bank accounts or credit cards as Together has access to my financial accounts. This is where all the financial information comes in handy for them and all along they claim under the guise it is to thoroughly check out the moral and financial character of you and your potential mates.

Generally, their corporate office as well as the enrollment office is rude. They are purely interested in signing it up and then you are on your own. Their idea of a matchmaker is not the warm motherly type, but more someone who is an order taker and when they get a troll they call you, which is every 8 to 10 weeks and this is even when you send them in their feedback on a timely basis.By the way, this company is in the 20th century, email doesn't work for them they are still in the fax age, and the old fashioned phone call does not work to give them feedbacks on the dates. It is all about money without the least bit of customer service.

My family is in the new car business for 50 years and they talk about how ruthless and slimy car dealers are. Although in the car business it is rare we take returns on cars from dissatisfied, we occasionally make amends and will bend with customers if it is a no win situation.

These folks at Together make the stereotypes of car dealers and car salespeople look like old hat.

My suggestion like the others cited in this report, stay away from Together.

In short, I am not a litigious person, but it is the principal that I am asking for a partial refund, which is doubtful that I will see.
