Valentine and Kabartas started calling my parents house looking for me when I refused to pay t-mobile for outrageous debts they said I had occurred with them. They had sent it to one collection agency and I told the guy that I would pay it when I could and I never really heard from him again. Then came Valentine and Kabartas.
The lady I spoke with at first was really nice and told me that it would be going up for legal action if I did not settle it with her. She told me that I did not need to pay it all up front that we could set up payments. I figured that would be fine I was in the middle of a move and was going back to work and I would have enough time to make my first payment. Everything when fine with my first payment.
Well about 3 weeks ago I lost my job and my tax returns that I was counting on were not what they were suppose to be. So as soon as I found this out I called the lady to tell her that I wouldn't be able to make my payment like she told me I could. I called her at 3pm est. Time and she didnt return my call until almost 7pm est time.
I told her my situation and she asked me to hold on a moment. Then comes on the phone her supervisor Melissa, again I explained my situation to her and told her that there was no way I would be able to pay her by the first if I did, I would have no money for food or rent. She said it wasnt her problem that I had to give them 2 "business" days notice and it was past their business day. I told her that wasnt my fault that they waited to call me back so late, and she went on telling me it was my problem and it was attached to my social and birthday just getting nastier and nastier.
So at this time I put her on speaker phone so the other person in the car with me could hear her. I told her that I would put a stop payment on the check because there was no way she would be able to debt my account the money was NOT going to be there. So she told me if i was going to do that she was going to write me off as a refusal to pay and tack on 500 more dollars and send me to court and I could tell it to a judge. I told her that I didnt have to sit here and have her treat me like sh* and be such a bi*h to me and she said that I did because its my problem for not making money and that its only a $100 I was pathetic if I couldnt afford that. I finally got so disgusted with her I hung up on her and called 4 different times the next day until I got back to the person that was helping me originally and she said she would put a hold on my account and give me 30 days to pay march's payment.
But all the research I've been doing has me very worried and concerned that I am being ripped off. What should I do? I don't want nor can afford anything else bad on my credit but don't want to loose my money to a scum sucking business if I really dont owe it to them in the first place. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.
