Unqualified corning staff did hvac work, still not functioning, & created damaging & hazardous contitions. Refuses to pay for repair by certified professionals. Ripoff toledo

They may do walls ok, but be ware when they try to reconnect your hvac!

Problems with basement refinishing system installation initiated january

Design & Process flaws
o Enclosing 2 furnaces in a sealed' room without proper ventilation major fire hazard
o Design error restricted heat flow to only one room.
O The elimination of one of two heat sources for the room without adequate compensation elsewhere in the design.inquired installation staff about this and they said only one heating vent was specified by Owens Corning Project Management. Two vents were previously required to make the room comfortable.
O I had to request a Quality Assurance inspection by Owens Corning Project Management. (Where Owens Corning confirmed the problems.) Was previously told that the same staff who performed the also does the QA!

Staff not adequately experienced in heating and air conditioning, Note errors as follows:
o 1st - staff connects basement heat to wrong furnace. No heat flows to remodeled room, nor elsewhere. When I inquired, staff response was I did not think it made any difference. Any professional with sufficient experience in HVAC would have known this.
O 2nd staff leaves site as finished, with basement heater unvented blowing into a closed closet. This condition, detrimental to the equipment and an obvious fire hazard, caused ADT fire protection services to call me several times because the alarm was activated.
O 3rd staff returns to jobsite to correct the previously noted condition and leaves cool air return connected to the wrong furnace.
O 4th staff routes heat for laundry room immediately adjacent to smoke detector. More hazard condition notices from ADT.
O 5th - My HVAC specialists identified several other problems during inspection on 24-Jan-07

Following the second problem I was convinced that HVAC was not an area of specialty for this crew. At my own expense, I arranged an inspection of the final' work on the HVAC with local specialists, and
a) the work done by Owens Corning is still not right
b) I still do not have adequate heat in that room as a result of item a

I now have no confidence in Owens Corning's knowledge of HVAC systems and prefer to have my specialist address my heating issues. The Owens Corning method of trial and error has already jeopardized my home. I proposed that they pay my specialist to have the HVAC issues addressed properly.

Given the aforementioned circumstances and Owens Corning has already had 3 opportunities to and to fix the problems, I will no longer accept work on my HVAC done by Owens Corning staff without professional HVAC certification credentials. Now, for obvious reasons, I prefer to specialists that I have identified perform the work.

Mr. Peck has broached the subject of contractuality' and appears more interested in saving $800 profit (ON A #30,000 PROJECT) than fixing my problem. FACT: Before Owens Corning I had functional heat and after Owens Corning, I do not.

My good faith in Owens Corning has been completely eroded while trying to address the issue with my heat. This could all be settled quite amicably if Owens Corning would simply pay the bill to have my heat fixed by my professionals immediately. If the company was truly inclined towards stellar Customer Service this would be the proper thing to do.

Meeting Results: Attendees: myself, Mr. Peck, the O.C. Project manager, and Jim Dolan from local HVAC company. After the walkthrough with my expert explaining the errors with the HVAC reconnection, Mr. Peck wanted yet another opportunity to time to fix it, using the specs delivered by my experts (whom I paid for the inspection), but using their insufficiently experienced talent. Unacceptable. They have already has sufficient opportunity. I will use my HVAC specialists to repair the errant work and I am looking to be compensated for that expenditure amount. Today, 01-Feb, Mr. Peck declined my request that he absorb this cost, hence my complaint.

FYI -I do have the communication history for this litany addressed to Owens staff Rich Faire, S. Stoltzberg and Mike Peck.
