A Kyocera Slider was purchased 07/06, from Cricket. To replace a Kyocera Phantom (which was not working). The Kyocera Slider has been a problem for the last 4 months. It has not worked at all for the last week.

Last week I called Cricket to see what we need to do to replace the phone thru the insurance (that is billed/paid monthly).

I was informed by Tim (very helpful and informational) that this non working Kyocera could be replaced by warranty (prior to 8 months) by paying $45. Which would be better than using the insurance and paying the $85.

And he also told me the only way to collect on the insurance is if you can "produce the phone in 600 pieces or prove that it was stolen". And therefore the insurance was a rip-off. Get rid of the insurance on 01/20/07 (the insurance is not pro-rated).

We went to Cricket yesterday to replace this phone under warranty. And were told the phone would not be covered by warranty because "the antenna has bite marks & the plastic cover over the head set input is missing". Therefore we need to use the insurance.

We now have a form to complete and take back to the Cricket Store with the phone (which is "not in 600 pieces or stolen") - and see if insurance will replace the phone.

I have a very strong feeling - I will be in the same shoes as all the rest of the people on this site.

If anyone has additional ideas/information - it would be appreciated.
