May offered 2 month free trial membership (through AOL). I then cancelled. There wasn't any response, not an e-mail EVER, not a phone call EVER, not one single piece of mail EVER. I believed that I was no longer registered-that I was cancelled since I NEVER again heard from them.
Unknown to me, SECRETIVE PrivacyGuard was taking $8.00 per month from us.in June our family moved. We no longer used AOL service AT ALL! Well to our surprise we recieved a piece of mail (Dec. 26) from PrivacyGuard! The address was our current one, so obviously they kept track of us - SECRETIVELY! It was to alert us that as of Jan. 2007 member FEES will now be processed directly by TRILEGIANT instead of AOL!
Surprisingly there was a phone number. I called and found the information I mentioned of being charged the $8.00 fee monthly. I was stern. I said that I wanted immediate cancellation and a TOTAL & COMPLETE REFUND. I had first been charged in July because remember May & June were the 2 month free trial.
The representative actually tried to push me into other offers, one for $20.00. I said I want nothing to do with anything they offer - I want my money or I will have to take it further. She told me to take a few days to think about all the benefits they offer. I angrily told her that if I knew I had this membership still active wouldn't I have used a benefit or two at least once? Common Sense!!!
She then offered a refund of $9.00!! On and on it went. She said she cancelled the account-I hope so!!! And if I wanted to dispute for my refunded RIP-OFF I would have to put it in writing and I was given a different address which is as follows:
Attention: Support Services
P.O. Box 6100
Westerville, Ohio
43086
This INSISTANT company will be a problem I'm sure. They owe me $336.00 WITH INTEREST - A membership lets itself be known but this was deliberately quiet theft.interest is fair!!!
