We received a check for $2998.40 with instructions on how to claim $115500.00 in winnings from an Irish lotto. I called and spoke to a girl who instructed me to cash the check and call her back when I had the cash to get info on where to pay my international clearence fees of $2845.50. And then get my complete winnings. My husband is currently deployed to Iraq and the notice came addressed to him.
We were extremely excited about what we could do to better our lives w / the money. Like fixing our house and saving for our sons to go to school. It is very offical and convincing looking. I had the check w / me at the bank and honestly almost cashed it while taking care of other business, but decided to wait to investigate it first. I'm glad I found info on this site.
I looked up the info on the check first and it actually matches info for the town of Oak Bluff that the check is said to be cut from. It's very disheartening to see people play w / others this way. I'm glad I'm so pessimitsic and wanted to check it out first. I can only imagine the legal trouble that may have been involved.
