My disabled son retired from the Navy and had to relocate his mobile home. "Alfie" gave us a quote & we sent an acceptance with a large deposit in certified funds. When the day Alfie's truck was supposed to move the home, no one showed up & no one called. After frantic emails and repeated calls, Alfie & his "wife" visited us on their way to W. Palm Beach where he said he was moving.
"Alfie" apologized & said he was having employee probs & he would make sure it got moved the next week. Again, no one appeared & we searched around for another mover as we had already given notice at the mobile home park! We informed him of this & he apologized & said he would return our deposit.
HE DID NOT! We contacted our county planning dept. Who said he had not registered with them or the State of FL. The DOT contact in Tallahassee told us that since he entered into a contract with us prior to registration, that this could be an illegal scam.
A year ago, he sent us another email stating he wanted to make restitution. I think it was so we wouldn't sue him. We happily sent him instructions on returning our funds.
We have still not heard from him and of course, the statute of limitations has now passed for small claims. I am sure, however, that a class action against this business would be joined by us.
Shame on you, whoever you are!
