I've been wondering how this charge got onto my bill as well. I haven't had T-Mobile Service since 2003 and I certainly didn't owe $449.00, as they claim!
I called them this past May to clear up the bill. They first asked me for an account number and since I didn't have the full # (because I obtained my report through freecreditreport.com and they partially obscure the account number for privacy reasons), I figured they'd still be able to pull my accoutn info from just my name, address and/or ss #. WELL, I got bounced around to 4 different people in "different departments". My "wait time" seemed similar to what I'd experience by being put on hold with one of my best friends rather than a so called professional company.
I could still hear talking when I was "on hold" No elevator music or pre-recorded company blabbering while I was waiting either. Also, I was told, verbatim, to "hold on". I wasn't spoken to in a professional manner whatsoever!
They said I had to contact T-Mobile myself for payment details when all I wanted was to pay off the credit company in full. Strange. I called T-Mobile and they said they could only help me if I had the account number because they don't deal with people on a name basis! Nice to know I'm looked at as just a number. Humor me at least, damn! So, now what? Since I can't pay the bill are they going to sneak thier way into slapping me with more "late charges"?
I am talking to a lawyer soon about this whole thing.
