PROPANE DISCOUNTERS of 904 South Market Avenue of Fort Pierce, Florida 34982 and/or Jayce Smith (owner) and/or J.D. Geisler (owner) broke a contract to install a 250 gallon propane tank at my residence and connect it to my house generator.
The installation date was on 31 March. I paid 1/2 of the total cost up front ($1250) by credit card on 09 March. The contract and bid were done by Jayce Smith (owner) of Propane Discounters (he said he was the owner of the company and his business card states that also). During the installation of the propane tank the equipment they were using broke my driveway (the employee installing was Chris Allen).
They attempted to repair the driveway themselves to save some money but it was done incorrectly and immediately broke again causing another crack to go half way across the driveway. The repair looks so bad it is has caused my property to be devalued slightly (I have pictures). I was told by Chris that if the repair job did not work that they would get a professional concrete company to fix the driveway.
The tank was not installed in the correct area which should have been in my backyard and not next to the driveway in front of the house. I only found this out after reviewing the permit and survey that the city of PSL had approved. If they had followed their own plans that were submitted to the city for the permit application, the driveway would not have been broken (I have the submitted survey showing this).
A person by the name of JD (he said he was also an owner of Propane Discounters) came by my house on 11March and looked at the repair with my wife (I was not home). He agreed with my wife that it was not acceptable and said he would have a concrete contractor come by and fix it correctly. JD called me on my cell phone that day and told me the same thing about replacing the driveway. After that conversation nothing has been done by Propane Discounters including finishing the initial tank installation or repairing the driveway or reimbursing me so I could get the driveway repaired.
I have placed numerous phone calls (at least 15-20 calls) to the Propane Discounters' main office and left many messages with the office staff for Jayce or JD or the accountant to call me back. On 25 April I received one phone call from an office employee to tell me someone would call me back later, which never happened.
Since then I have not received a single call (I have phone bills showing this) or received any mail regarding the damage or completing the job. I even called the employee who broke the driveway and did the tank installation numerous times with no response.
After several weeks of getting nowhere and out of desperation I finally called several other propane tank installers and eventually found Ferrellgas Company who came out and finished the installation at an additional cost of $113 (I have the Ferrellgas bill).
Approximately 2 months ago (June), I received a call from a collection agency trying to collect on an unpaid bill from Propane Discounters. I informed the collection agency I had never received a bill and I was not aware of any outstanding bill from Propane Discounters. I informed the collection agency that Propane Discounters had never finished the job, and that they refused to return my numerous calls, that I was still waiting for them to come repair my driveway and they owed me money because I had to pay another company to finish the job.
The collection agent said his company did not care and said I either needed to pay the balance of the bill plus their collection costs for a total of approximately $1700. The collection calls have continued and have become more threatening.
It has now become obvious that Propane Discounters has no intention of honoring their contract or of repairing my property and is intent on causing me harm. They have also added further injury by submitting a fraudulent collection action which has been placed on my credit report and has now caused me to be rejected for refinancing of my home.
My daily life and my families life has been severely and negatively impacted physically, emotionally, financially by the callous and dishonest actions of Propane Discounters and/or Jayce Smith and/or JD Geisler.
