They aprouched me about a year and 2 months ago, on the phone right before i was ready to get off to work. I think this was there second attempt after i declined them once telling them "i dont read magazines, and if i want them i can buy them myself from across the street".
As it was a while ago its a little hard for me to remember the exact circumstances this undiseried "transaction" occured.
They called me after a few weeks aprouching me completly in a different way. They told me im on my way to win 1million dollars plus some minor gifts (like a whatcher) if i give them my personall information (name, adress, SSN, bank account number).
When i told them im being late to work they started to be very persistent in theire request, telling me it will only take a few minutes. I had no idea who they are, were did they get my phone number, how did they find me. As i have been living in USA at that time for less then a year, i didnt know how to handle this kind off situations, were unknown service providers call me out of the blue asking for my personal information.
In my native country this kind of situations rarely occurs As the guy who was talking to me, asking me repetedly to suscribe to theire service, and how convinient is, i was affraid to hang-up on him or turned it down as i thought it wouldnt be nice. So i gave up, unknowing what am i about to go for, something im really interested in, and i provided him with all my personall information.
That caught me at a very bad time, i was vulnarable, as i said being a foreigner i didnt know what am i getting into, or how to handle this kind of situations. At one point as i was giving him my personall information, i had a "slight change of heart" and i asked him lets to this later, i want to go to work". He persistently said "no" "wait" it will take only a few minutes, and then again, because i didnt want to be rude, i continued.
Isuscribed for somekind of a service where which i still dont understand, where i would get 5magazines every month for the price of 60$/month, but i had no idea this service cannot be canceled by no means as i sadly found out later... My bank account got billed severel times, i even had to called them to ask what these payments mean. They seemed to find resonable answers all the time. Later, for distance reasons, i canceled that bank account opening a new one at a different bank closer to my appartment.
After that i moved, forgetting all about this so called service. After i changed my adress in theire database i found myself suddenly in due for hundreds of dollars. I called them asking them to cancel this service as i dont want it. They said its not possible, threathning me that they will take legal action agaist me.
I never been trought something like, i cant afford a lawyer, so scared and not wanting something like this i payed them with great efforts about 400$ dollars in a couple a days. Then i payed montly as much as they asked but then i saw that this thing wont hand. It goes on and on.
Then after my imcome got lower, facing other important bills like rent, phone etc, i couldnt pay this off, so i stoped paying as i was very short. Then they sent me all kinds of notices urging me to pay my debth, otherwise they will ask for a bill collectors service, and then take legal action agaist me.
Now they call me at work, almost every day. I talked to them once telling them i asked for this service to be cancelled before which they refused, and that i cannot keeo up paying this bill, which is a service i do not need or use. Today i refused to talked to them, so they told my manager who answered the phone that they gonna take legal action agaist me, and that im a deliquent, because i refuse to use their service.
At that point taking to the manager i felt humiliatedm as i thought i dont deserve this kindaa treatment. Now im desperate and i didnt know who to turn to until i found this website hoping someone might help me. Thank u
