I purchased a living room and bedroom suite from Aaron's in December.
Not only did I pay these jokers their inflated fee every month, but I added in extra so that I could finish paying for it earlier.
From December to July I paid my bill on time with, in August I called Aaron's to tell them that due to some financial hardships my payment would be late, but it would be paid.
I was treated like I just stole something, the manager of the store in Takoma Park, Maryland wanted to know what the problem was and insisted that I send them a "post-dated" check.
Against my better judgement I did this with the promise that it not be cashed until the dated stated.
This of course didn't happened and they tried to cash it anyway but my bank refused to do it.
I was called and harass and they demanded not only their money but their furniture back. I told them that I was not going to give them anything back, I had already paid well over $3,000.00 for this and they were not going to get it back. I did some calculating and realized that I only had a couple of payments left, so I called them to make arrangements to pay off the balance.
When I called I was told intially that they could not go inside the computer to see how much my "pay-off" balance would be.
When I continued to push the issue, because I felt that someone was trying to pull a fast one on me, the gave me a quote of almost $2,000.00, of course I was floored.
The items I purchased didn't add up to that amount, so why were they trying to charged me double. (even with rental fees, taxes, and interest)
I told them that I was not going to give them an extra two grand for something that I have already paid $3000.00 for.
Of course this is when the harassment begin. People banging on my door at all times of the day and night. Trying to push their way into my home. Threating to call the police and have me arrested. Calling my elderly mother and threating her, calling my job and other relatives.
I finally got a lawyer and the harassment stopped, but the issue continues to this day.
I now have a negative credit report and have been fighting to get this removed from my credit history.
I am ready to file a class action lawsuit to get this removed.
I paid my bill on time and paid well over their asking price for the furniture and I don't appreciate anyone trying to "rip" me off.
