My mother took my younger brothers and sisters, four of them all together, to this supposedly talent search (is your child the next star?)
It turned out to be JRP. My father was involved with the motion picture business while I was growing up and knew of these so-called talent agents.
After I had my own boys while we were living in Santa Barbara, we went to one of these so called talent search and both boys where picked and it was only going to cost us a arm and leg.
I called my father and told him the so-called good news and he let me in on something the general public is not up on.
A talent agent who locates someone that he/she thinks is the next star will not ask for any money up front, they will sign a contract as an agent and sell the client and get payed a percentage.
John Robert Powers is an over priced acting and modeling class who's employees are not qualifide acting or modeling coaches or teachers.
I asked my siblings what they learned in their class when they get home and the answers are, for acting the lady just reads from a book, we never do any acting. For modeling, they tell us; turn your head like this and like that.
When the over priced pictures were going to be taken the semi-English speaking employee told my mom that the girls needed 10 dresses each. So my moms running allover trying to get 20 dresses.
It turned out that the girls needed 10 outfits. This same employee told her the boys just needed two shirts. Again the boys needed ten outfits.
So the Pictures that don't even look like a professional photographer took them, came out all the same on the boys. I went through both Cd's looking at the pictures and there's hardly any difference.
The girls pictures their heads are cut off, and the explanation to my mom was that the industry professionals are only interested in the face.
Just recently while my mom was at this training facility one of the parents was upset because some so-called talent agent liked her daughter until she smiled, she has braces, this agent told her to come back when the braces were off.
Both my sisters wear braces, so does this mean that my mom just through away her money because the girls have braces and they have to wait until they're off to be discovered.
I mean these con artists that saw the girls with there braces on, picked them to be "possibly the next stars" and charged my mom for pictures of them with there braces on when the braces are something the agents do not want.
They also want to charge her for retaking the boys photos. I say BS! I think we need an investigation into JRP's employees qualifications and a class action suite against this scam!
Those of you who are happy with your child's personnel development and more confidence, even though they have yet to get an acting job, you could have saved a s#! % load of money by just sending your child to self-esteem classes!
But if your happy, that's all that matters!
