I cancelled my Dish Network service on June 13. The reason I cancelled was that I was moving. They told me they would send some boxes so I could return the receivers and LNB so I gave them my new address.
I hadn't received them yet when they called me to ask why I cancelled my service on July 1. At this time I asked why I hadn't received my boxes. They didn't have my new address on file. They took my new address and said I would get the boxes in three to five days. Yeah, right.
On July 19, having not received my f'ing boxes yet, I called again. They *still* had my old address. I don't know what kind of pile of dish network boxes is piling up in front of my old place, but I'm not going to drive the four hours to find out. They said they would send me new boxes. I asked if there were some way I could talk to the same opperator again in case I didn't get the boxes.
I opened my bank statement today and they charged me over $270 because I hadn't returned my equipment. They also said they wouldn't refund it until they got the equipment. I asked if there were some way I could just send the equipment back without theiir boxes but they couldn't figure that out. So they are trying again. This time I got the opperator ID so I could talk to the same person. And I threatened to sue but it didn't seem to phase them.
I would recommend recording all your communications with Dish and threaten to sue early on. Hopefully this will resolve itself. I'm not the sueing type but for someone who doesn't make much money, $270 is a lot. I'm not violent person either but this has really gotten me pissed off.
