Doylestown ripoffreplacement of defective mattress charging for sheet set that salesman said was a free promotion

We purchased a mattress set (Simmons Beautyrest) from Sleepys. We reported it defective and an independent inspector was sent to inspect.

We received a report from Sleepys that the mattress was found to be defective and we could select a new one which we did. We had to pay $1,929.00 for the new one. The original was $1,884.38. This did not include the box springs (2) for a king size bed.

The problem is that we were charged again for delivery and sales tax. Also, at the time of the first purchase, the salesman told us that they were running a promotion if we bought that day. The promotion was a free set of king size sheets valued at $200.00. Since we were purchasing that day anyway, we thought this was a great promotion.

The salesman filled out the required invoice to which he added the $200.00 for the sheets. When I questioned the $200.00, he said he had to show it on the invoice, however, the $200.00 would be deducted during the processing of the invoice.

When we returned to the store to select a replacement mattress, the saleswoman stated to us that the price was so high for the first mattress set because of that $200.00 sheet purchase. I told her they were a promotion at that time and were free. She didn't answer me.

I emailed Sleepys customer service dept. And received a letter back saying the "arrangement" I had with the salesman. "If the arrangement was sheets are free it would not been so much money when paid". This is the exact wording used in the letter. This

Quote: "As per warranty exchanges Simmons and all manufacturer does not cover transportation cost. This cost must be paid by the customer. Taxes we have not control of", Again, the exact wording in the letter.

I contacted The Better Business Bureau and they told me Sleepys is not a member of BBB. They have had many complaints and at least one law suit in their files.

I emailed Sleepys customer service again this evening with this information. I hope I will receive some kind of answer by tomorrow, however I am not expecting a positive reply.
