This company called me posing as a representative of Capital One and said for $200 they could help improve my credit by issuing me an unsecured Capital One visa or mastercard and use it to purchase merchandise from general merchants throughout the area. After making my first payment "on time" I would become eligable to withdraw cash up to $1,000 at any ATM. My monthly payments would be reported to the 3 credit bureaus each month I paid on time and before long, I would have an improved credit rating.
In my desperation (and stupidity) to start improving my credit after a very difficult 2 year period of bankrupcy, repo, and collections I fell hook, line, and sinker.
After they withdrew $200 from my account, I recieved a catalog (with four $50 vouchers) and a fake credit card and a website address that doesn't exist. What a scam!!! I have lost complete trust in the American way of life. The $200 is all I had in my account and now I'm overdrawn with additional fees to be paid.
