Ripoff package falls off UPS truck damaged never delivered lost Oregon

In April, my son and I moved from Newport, Oregon, to Las Vegas, NV. My neighbor took my valuable paintings, priceless and sentimental, to Staples, in Newport Oregon to have them packaged and UPS'd to me in Las Vegas. I told my kind neighbor to insure the package for the maximum, as they were very valuable, and irreplaceble, and sentimental.

After she talked to the girl who packaged my pictures at staples store, she assured my neighbor nothing has ever been broken or lost, so my neighbor felt pretty good about saving me a few bucks and not insuring the package, that's where the problem began. Staples packaged and handed my package over to UPS.

Then, after a month goes by, and no package delivered to me in Las Vegas, I called Staples and they advised me that my package had fallen off the UPS truck and was in the Las Vegas warehouse, but they wouldn't deliver it to me because it had been damaged, and UPS was going to return it to Newport, OR. I was furious, I demanded they delivered what was mine, I even paid for them to package my pictures at staples store, who handed over my package to UPS. They never delivered to me.

After six months of phone calls to numerous people at staples and UPS, nothing got resolved. They said my package had been damaged and lost and since I didn't insure it, in other words, I was out of luck. I sent a very nasty letter to UPS CEO, and he never responded.

One lady in the corporate office asked what I would want as a settlement, and when I thought about it, I couldn't prove what was in the package, then I would have to go to small claims court, which I think the max benefit amount would be around five thousand dollars, well, she laughed, and said she could never approve that, and she was thinking more in the lines of one or two hundred dollars!

I tried to explain there was a signed print, that had belonged to my deceased sister, very valuable, sentimental and monetarily valuable and other antique pictures and antique frames, but she said unless I could show her proof, like receipts, who keeps receipts for years? I had these for literally twenty years.

So, if anyone knows what else I could do, please let me know, these were irreplaceable, sentimental, valuable, and I really believe a UPS driver or employee saw what was in the package and stole it.

A year later and still no package delivered. UPS didn't drop the ball on this one, they literally dropped my package out of their truck! Then can't find it to deliver it.
