In March I moved and with current cell service I only get service about 10% of the time. I have to call and check messages from other phones. I am paying $46.00 a month for a service I cannont use.
UNICEL would not cancel contract unless I paid $200.00. They offered to give me another 24 month contract and another phone. Then if the new contract and phone didn't work they would charge me $200.00 to cancel that contract. This is a win-win situatin for them.
My present contract does not expire until June. I have already paid 12 months for something I cannot use. If I had of refused to pay the bill they would have turned my name into the credit bureau plus charged a reconnection fee OR the $200.00 to cancel contract. My credit report is important to me.
Big companies like this can treat customers anyway they want and get by with it. I have talked with some representaties for UNICEL who have been nice, but also some who have not been nice.
I have filed complaints with BBB and with attorney general but still have been unable to get UNICEL to turn off phone without the $200.00. They do not care that I have paid between $500.00 - $600.00 for something I cannot use. I would LOVE to see a big documentray on 60 minutes or some such program about cell rip-offs.
