I should have known to check the "consumer complaints" BEFORE I went to Walgreens Pharmacy, but I thought "how bad can a well respected pharmacy be?" My mistake! So I elected to have my precriptions filled at the local Walgreens at Hwy #529 and Queenston Blvd.
Tried to" call-in" my valid scripts—the automatic refill # was not working correctly and would not accept the refill # (I tried X4), then was told I would be transferred to a live person&waited "on hold" 20 min, and finally hung up. Called to regular # of the pharmacy, and when I told them I was having difficulty refilling a script, they immediately transferred me to the non-woking #. I called them again, and this time "we cannot come to the phone, leave your name and #, and we'll call you back". I then drove to the pharmacy, went to the pharmacy dept. And while the clerk was filling out the refills for the 4 scripts, I asked him if he was aware that the "call-in" # was not working. He non-chalontly said "no". He said my prescriptions would be ready in 30 min. I explained that I had other business and would pick them up the next day. I asked him if I should call ahead, and he said "No, they will be ready because they will be filled in 30 min"
I went back the next afternoon (thru the drive-thru) and 1 (0ne) was ready. They had no idea about the other ones! The clerk said she would investigate and I could come back "later" to pick them up.
"Later" i called to make sure they were available, and they said yes. I went to pick them up, and one that was supposed to be $5.00, was $16.19. I asked the pharmasist why that was, and couldn't understand her response (heavy Asian accent), so because there were 3 cars waiting behind me, I paid the price.
When I got home I called and asked why the price was higher. She said that the note said it had been picked up and/or filled at another pharmacy (IT CERTAINLY HAD NOT!!!) I explained this to her, and she asked if I wanted to return it and get my $ back and I said yes.
I drove back to the pharmacy, then as I was returning the medication, she said she had called??? (I couldn't understand who, because of her accent!) and the medication would now be $5.00 instead of $16.19. She did give me the medication and refunded the difference in price!!!
What a fiasco!!! 4 trips to the pharmacy for refill of VALID medications!!!
